Sidr leaves come from the Sidr tree, which is also known as Ziziphus tree or Christ thorn. The Sidr tree is a medium-sized deciduous tree with a distinct golden yellow color from the Jujube family. Sidr leaves are often used in traditional and Islamic medicine.

Diverse traditional applications :

• Strengthening the immune system

• for toothache or inflammation in the mouth

• Detox for the body

• For gastrointestinal complaints

• For hair and skin problems

• Ruqyah

 Washing the dead

Traditional preparations:

To detoxify: Place approx. 5g of Sidr leaves in 200ml of still water (e.g. Zamzam water) and let it steep for several hours, ideally overnight. Strain the leaves and drink the water. Repeat this procedure over several days (3-5 or 7 days)

Ruqyah: Let about 10g of Sidr leaves steep in the bath water and bathe in this water. The water can also be prepared in a bucket and poured over the body in the shower.

Gastrointestinal complaints: Add Sidr leaves to boiling water and let it steep. Remove leaves and drink the tea.

Toothache and gum inflammation: Add Sidr leaves to boiling water and let it steep for several hours. Remove leaves and use the cooled water as a mouthwash.

Hair and skin problems: Mix Sidr leaves into a powder. For example, the powder can be mixed with water or olive oil to form a paste and applied as a face or hair mask.

Islamic sources:

Allah subhana wa ta'ala says: (interpretation of the meaning): "And he (Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him]) saw him (Jibrīl) coming down another time, by the Sidr tree (Sidrat al-Muntaha - the Lotus tree at the outermost boundary that no one can cross) of the final destination, which is the Garden of Refuge. When whatever covered (it) covered the Sidr tree, the gaze (of the Prophet Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him]) did not depart, nor did it exceed the measure (set for it). Verily he saw the greatest of the signs of his Lord (Allah)” (53:13-18).
